Sweet Charity Tour With Molly Ringwald to Play Houston

The national tour of Sweet Charity, starring Molly Ringwald as Charity Hope Valentine, will make a stop in Houston, TX, it was announced.

Dates for the Theatre Under the Stars engagement are June 26-July 8, 2007.

The tour, based on the Walter Bobbie Broadway production that starred Christina Applegate, will also play at American Musical Theatre of San Jose in fall 2006, and the Denver Center for the Arts Dec. 5-Dec 17, 2006, according to those theatres. Other cities have not yet been officially announced.

Ringwald has appeared on Broadway in Cabaret and Off-Broadway in tick,tick...BOOM!, as well as in the plays Enchanted April, Modern Orthodox and How I Learned to Drive. She is well known from such films as "Pretty in Pink," "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club."

The revival closed on Broadway on Dec. 31, 2005. The show was nominated for Best Revival of a Musical Tony Award. Applegate and choreographer Wayne Cilento were also nominated.
