Initially presented last season as part of the Target Margin's Unknown Williams retrospective, Green Eyes will run Jan. 5-23, 2011, at the Hudson Hotel. PS 122 presents the run as part of the 2011 COIL Festival.
Audiences of up to 20 at a time will have the opportunity to view the drama in Chamberlain's "hyper-intimate" presentation. Williams' 1970 play, which went unpublished until 2008, is set in a New Orleans hotel room.
According to presenters, "Green Eyes graphically reveals the effects of war through the sexual fantasies of a newlywed couple honeymooning in New Orleans. He’s an impotent soldier, traumatized by his participation in the war; she’s a ravenous woman determined to satisfy her most deviant desires. In a single electrifying scene, Green Eyes restages the horrors of war as an unhinged lovers’ quarrel, exploring the disturbing subjectivities that exist in the grey areas where sadomasochistic desire and domestic violence overlap."
Erin Markey will portray the frustrated wife, with Adam Couperthwaite as her husband.
For tickets, priced $30, phone (212) 352-3101 or visit OvationTix. The Hudson Hotel is located at 356 West 58th Street in Manhattan.
