Tennessee Williams Will Experience Homecoming at Newly Renovated St. Louis Artists' Guild
30 Jun 2014
The St. Louis Artists' Guild, which was once home to performances by a young Tennessee Williams, will be home to the acclaimed playwright's rarely performed play Stairs to the Roof when it is mounted at the newly renamed Boo Cat Club, according to St. Louis Today.
The theatre is now a centerpiece of the club; the restorations began after Pat and Carol Schuchard bought the empty building, which had been unused for about four years.
"At one time, this was the place in St. Louis for visual and performing arts — a formal arts-and-crafts cottage endowed by the cultural elite of the city. Every artist in St. Louis has had something to do with that building," Pat Schuchard told St. Louis Today.
When the restoration is complete, the Schuchards will host a grand opening for a building that will present visual art exhibits, concerts and plays, beginning with Stairs to the Roof.
