The Bodyguard, the West End musical version of the 1992 film of the same name, is to embark on a two-year U.K. and Ireland tour after its current run at the Adelphi Theatre ends Aug. 29. The tour will launch at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre Feb. 12, 2015, for a run through Feb. 28.

It will then visit Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Stoke, Bradford, Cardiff, Plymouth and Dublin, with more dates to be announced.

The tour is being produced by Michael Harrison and David Ian.

Based on Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar-nominated Warner Bros. film, The Bodyguard has a book by Alex Dinelaris and opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in December 2012. It is directed by Thea Sharrock.

In the show, former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love. The score features such pop classics as "Queen of the Night," "So Emotional," "One Moment in Time," "Saving All My Love," "I’m Your Baby Tonight," "Run to You," "I Have Nothing," "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and "I Will Always Love You."

Casting is still to be announced.
