25 Oct 2013
Justin Sayre's monthly gathering The Meeting* will get in the Halloween spirit with an Oct. 30 evening dedicated to the film and musical adaptations of the Stephen King novel "Carrie" at 54 Below.
Special guests at the 9:30 event include Angela Di Carlo, Randy Rainbow, Emily McNamara and Glittered & Mauled. Also in attendance will be Audrey Lavine, who was the original standby for both Barbara Cook and Betty Buckley in the London and Broadway productions of the cult flop Carrie.
This special installment of The Meeting* promises some of Lavine's backstage stories and a song or two from Carrie.
Tracy Stark serves as music director.
The Meeting* is a monthly "gay romp through politics (sexual and otherwise), social news, music, comedy skits, and other important life-changing information." The gay variety show dedicates each installment to a different icon.
Upcoming sessions of The Meeting* include "Grey Gardens" (Nov. 20) and the annual Holiday Spectacular (Dec. 18).
The Meeting* is produced by and Dan Fortune and Adam J. Rosen.

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
