The Playbill Vault Celebrates Tony Award Winner Ann Reinking
10 Nov 2013
In 1996, Reinking choreographed and starred in the Broadway revival of Chicago. She played Roxie Hart in a cast that included Bebe Neuwirth as Velma Kelly and Joel Grey as Amos Hart.
The production received glowing reviews and won six Tony Awards, including one for Reinking's Bob Fosse-inspired choreography. The musical is still running today at the Ambassador Theatre and holds the record for the third longest-running show in Broadway history.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
