THE SCREENING ROOM: Behind the Scenes of The Last Five Years, With Betsy Wolfe and Adam Kantor (Video)
07 Feb 2013
The Second Stage Theatre revival of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, directed by the composer himself, will begin Off-Broadway performances March 7. Here is a look inside rehearsal.
The work, a two-person musical that documents a five-year relationship of a couple falling in and out of love, will star Betsy Wolfe (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and Adam Kantor (Rent). Here, the two rehearse with Brown and offer a glimpse at "Goodbye Until Tomorrow," "The Next Ten Minutes" and "Shiksa Goddess."

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
