Billy Elliot: The Musical, featuring a score by Elton John and Lee Hall, closed on Broadway Jan. 8, 2012. In celebration of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Playbill.com looks back at Billy through the years.
The musical, based on the 2000 film of the same name, premiered in the West End in 2005 and was nominated for nine Olivier Awards, winning four including Best New Musical. Since then, the musical has had various productions all over the world and took home 10 Tony Awards, including the award for Lead Actor in a Musical that was shared by David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish.
Here are performances from the West End production, Broadway and more.

Now this unapologetically brilliant new production is coming to New York.
