THE SCREENING ROOM: Forever Dusty's Kirsten Holly Smith and Christina Sajous Sing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (Video)
18 Dec 2012
Kirsten Holly Smith and Christina Sajous, stars of the new Off-Broadway musical Forever Dusty, recently recorded a music video of their version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside."
Smith, who stars as Dusty Springfield, and Sajous, who plays Dusty's lover Claire, recorded "Baby, It's Cold Outside" on stage at New World Stages, where the musical opened Nov. 18. The video recreates a duet that Dusty Springfield performed with Rob McCuen in 1978.
Forever Dusty, according to the producers, tells the "compelling and moving story of Dusty’s journey, in a dramatic, high-energy musical filled with some of the most exciting pop songs ever written," including "Son of a Preacher Man," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "The Look of Love" and many others.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
