Jerry Herman's Tony Award-winning musical La Cage aux Folles, featuring a book by Harvey Fierstein, premiered on Broadway Aug. 21, 1983, at the Palace Theatre. The show took home the Tony for Best Musical and George Hearn won a Tony for his performance as Albin.
