THE SCREENING ROOM: Jeremy Jordan Sings Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's "Caught in the Storm" at Hit List
12 Dec 2013
Tony Award nominee Jeremy Jordan reprised his performance as bad-boy songwriter Jimmy Collins (who takes on the role of Jesse in his fictional musical Hit List) from "Smash" at 54 Below. Here is his performance of "Caught in the Storm."
Hit List — the fictional musical from the NBC television drama "Smash" that was written by the characters of Jimmy Collins and Kyle Bishop, played on the series by Jordan and Andy Mientus, respectively — made its much-anticipated debut Dec. 8-9 at 54 Below.
Jordan, Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez — who starred on the NBC musical drama — were joined by Carrie Manolakos (stepping into Katharine McPhee's role) in Hit List.
The score of Hit List comprised songs by various composers — both in the musical theatre industry and pop worlds — including Drew Gasparini (Make Me Bad), Joe Iconis (The Black Suits), Andrew McMahon, Tony Award nominees Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (A Christmas Story, Dogfight), Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and Lucie Silvas.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
