Grammy Award winner Lady Gaga celebrated her new single "Applause" Sept. 9 on "Good Morning America," where she performed the number in a Wizard of Oz-themed performance.
"Im so excited to perform on ABC Good Morning America in 1 hr! #ThereNoPlaceLikeHome #GagaOfOz #ApplauseGMA," tweeted the singer, prior to her performance.
On "GMA," Gaga — dressed as Dorothy — opened with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" before she ventured to Oz with backup dancers dressed as the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion to perform "Applause." Throughout the number, the singer appeared as Glinda, the Wicked Witch and Dorothy.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
