THE SCREENING ROOM: University of Mississippi Laramie Project Cast Thanks Big Fish Actors for Support (Video)
07 Oct 2013
Cast members from the University of Mississippi production of The Laramie Project, who were disrupted during their Oct. 1 performance by homophobic slurs from audience members, created a video message to thank the cast of Broadway's Big Fish for their support.
As previously reported, the Oct. 1 performance of University of Mississippi's production of Moisés Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project's The Laramie Project, based on the 1998 murder of University of Wyoming gay student Matthew Shepard, was disrupted by a group of college football players, who called out homophobic slurs from the audience.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
