Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, starring Tony Award nominee Jessie Mueller as the Grammy Award-winning musician, officially opened in its pre-Broadway, world-premiere engagement Oct. 8 at San Francisco's Curran Theatre. The production will arrive on Broadway later this fall.
Based on King's life and music, Beautiful began previews Sept. 24 and will run through Oct. 20. It will then begin Broadway previews Nov. 21 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, with an official opening night set for Jan. 12, 2014.

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
