David Simon, creator of TV's "The Wire," is at work on a new musical, according to Herald.ie.

The musical will feature songs by the Pogues, the Celtic punk band from London that was formed in 1982 and was originally fronted by Shane McGowan. Plot details have not been reported.

Phil Chevron, the late guitarist for the Pogues, had collaborated with Simon on the musical. Chevron passed away in October.

Simon has reportedly submitted a draft of the musical to Garry Hynes, artistic director of The Druid Theatre Company, which will produce the musical. No timeline for a production has been announced.

Some of The Pogues' songs include "Dark Streets of London," "Boys from the County Hell," "Dirty Old Town," "Haunted," "Fairytale of New York," "Fiesta," "Rainy Night in Soho" and "Tuesday Morning."
