TheatreZone Season Will Feature Mack & Mabel, Sweeney Todd, Brooklyn and More
01 May 2014
Mark Danni, artistic director of TheatreZone, Naples' non-profit Equity professional theatre group in residence at the G&L Theatre, announced the company's 10th anniversary season.
The season continues the mission of the company, which is to bring the “lost treasures of Broadway” to Naples.
“TheatreZone’s 10 anniversary season is designed to surprise, entertain, challenge and inspire our audiences by inviting them to take part in shared acts of imagination,” said Danni in a statement.
The season will kick off with the Jerry Herman musical Mack & Mabel, which explores the tumultuous romantic relationship between Hollywood director Mack Sennett and Mabel Normand, who became one of Sennett’s biggest stars. Performances are scheduled for Jan. 8-18, 2015.
The season will also include Sweeney Todd (Feb. 5-15), Brooklyn – The Musical (March 5-15) and They’re Playing Our Song (April 30-May 10).
The 250-seat G&L Theatre is housed on the campus of The Community School of Naples, one block north of Pine Ridge Road at 13275 Livingston Road. For more information or to purchase tickets, call TheaterZone at (888) 966-3352 or visit www.theatrezone-florida.com.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
