"Five, Six, Seven, Nate!," the sequel to Tim Federle's acclaimed young adult novel "Better Nate Than Ever," about a young theatre fan with Broadway dreams, is published Jan. 21 by Simon & Schuster.
Federle's 2013 debut novel, "Better Nate Than Ever," traced the comic and touching adventure of a Pennsylvania teen who sneaks off to New York City to reach his Broadway dream. The book was met with critical acclaim upon its release.
"Better Nate Than Ever" also placed on the Best Book of the Year lists for Publishers Weekly and Amazon.
The sequel continues Nate's tale. According to Simon & Schuster, "Armed with a one-way ticket to New York City, small-town theater geek Nate is off to start rehearsals for E.T.: The Broadway Musical. It's everything he ever practiced his autograph for! But as thrilling as Broadway is, rehearsals are nothing like Nate expects: full of intimidating child stars, cut-throat understudies, and a director who can't even remember Nate’s name. Now, as the countdown to opening night is starting to feel more like a time bomb, Nate is going to need more than his lucky rabbit’s foot if he ever wants to see his name in lights. He may even need a showbiz miracle."
The initial novel in the "Nate" series was inspired by the young performers who auditioned for Billy Elliot – one in particular who carried a lucky rabbit's foot behind his back during his audition.
"I heard from so many readers who wanted to know what happened after Nate Foster got that final fateful phone call. 'Five, Six, Seven, Nate!' answers all those questions and more, and gives a behind-the-scenes account of what really happens when a Broadway show comes together (and apart). Think of it as 'Smash' meets 'Dance Moms,'" Federle said in a statement.
Federle is also the author of "Tequila Mockingbird."
Featuring the Broadway classics “To Life (L’Chaim!),” “If I Were A Rich Man,” “Sunrise Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “Tradition,” Fiddler on the Roof will introduce a new generation to this uplifting celebration that raises its cup to joy! To love! To life!
