After an acclaimed engagement in May, Tony Award-winning actress Laura Benanti returns to 54 Below Sept. 19 for a four-performance run in celebration of her new live album, "In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention."
Benanti, who recently appeared on the NBC series "Go On," plays 54 Below Sept. 19-21. Show times are Sept. 19 at 7 PM, Sept. 20 at 8 PM and 11 PM and Sept. 21 at 8 PM. Todd Almond serves as musical director.
Benanti's earlier 54 Below engagement was recorded by Broadway Records. Billed as "In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention: Live At 54 Below," the album was released digitally Sept. 6 and on CD Sept. 10.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
