Lily Tomlin, a Tony Award winner for her performance in the one-woman play by Jane Wagner, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, wed Wagner Dec. 31, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Liz Smith, a columnist for the Tribune, wrote, "And my longtime friends, Lily Tomlin and her love, the writer Jane Wagner, got married on the eve of 2014. ... My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents."
Tomlin, who also received a Special Tony Award in 1977, also collaborated with Wagner on Appearing Nitely.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
