The 68th Annual Tony Awards, which aired June 8 on CBS, drew 7.02 million viewers, according to preliminary numbers released by TVbytheumbersZap2It.com.
Although viewers were down slightly from last year's telecast, which was watched by 7.24 million, the annual celebration of the Broadway theatre held steady with a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating.
ABC, which aired "Jimmy Kimmel Live-Game Night," "NBA Countdown-Live" and "NBA Finals Game 2," won the night among adults 18-49 and with viewers (12.55 million tuned in for the "NBA Finals").
"Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for ABC (NBA Finals) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers," according to TVbythenumbers.
Tony winner Hugh Jackman hosted the annual Tony ceremony, which was broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall.
