10 Jan 2014
Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Tony Award-nominated for her performance in Avenue Q, is among the cast of Greed: A Musical for Our Times, which will begin performances Jan. 17 at The Tank at The Playroom Theater.
Directed by Christopher Scott with music direction and arrangements by Steven Gross, the cast will also feature Julia Burrows, Neal Mayer and James Donegan.
With book, music, and lyrics by Michael Roberts, "Greed's exploits range from the outrageous Ponzi scheme of 1910 to the subtle sales pitches of retirement planners and mortgage bundlers," according to press notes. "With songs like 'A Little Juice,' 'Inside Information' and 'The Ballad of Jamie Dimon,' Greed takes aim at the obvious, and not so obvious, targets."
Roberts is the author, composer and lyricist of the Off-Broadway comedy Golf: The Musical and The Fartiste, which played Off-Broadway during the 2011-12 season and is the winner of the 2006 FringeNYC Best Musical Award.
Performances of the Actors' Equity Approved Showcase will continue through Feb. 5.
Other members of the creative team include costume designer Dustin Cross, set designer Josh Iacovelli, lighting designer Joan Racho-Jansen, production stage manager Brian Westmoreland and assistant Gemini Quintos.

Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
