16 Aug 2012
Tony Award nominee Tony Shalhoub has joined the cast of Rob Greenberg's untitled CBS comedy pilot, according to TVLine.com.
In the pilot, Shalhoub, who is slated to star in the upcoming Broadway revival of Clifford Odets' Golden Boy, will join Chris Smith and Kal Penn.
The upcoming project centers on a young man (Smith) who, after being left at the altar by his fiancée, moves into a short-term housing complex and makes friends with a group of divorced men (Shalhoub and Penn).
Shalhoub was nominated for a Tony Award in 1992 for his performance in Conversations With My Father. He has also been seen on Broadway in Lend Me a Tenor, The Heidi Chronicles and The Odd Couple. He is also known for his work on the television series "Monk," for which he received three Emmy Awards.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
