Tony Award winner Alice Ripley, who won her Tony for her performance as bipolar mom Diana in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal, will return to the Manhattan nightspot 54 Below in November.
The acclaimed singing actress' Nov. 12 concert is titled Ripley Reflects. Show time is 7 PM.
"Expect a carefully crafted sampling of songs from shows in which she was an original Broadway cast member, as well as a healthy serving of melodies that cover a wide range of genres, including her own original tunes," according to 54 Below.
As previously reported, Ripley will tackle the role of religious fanatic Margaret White in the cult-favorite musical Carrie this fall in Seattle.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
