Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski has joined the cast of the upcoming NBC comedy series "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," according to Deadline.com.
The series, from "30 Rock" creator-star-executive producer Tina Fey and executive producer Robert Carlock, will also star Ellie Kemper as the title character, who after 15 years of living in a cult, decides to move to New York.
Krakowski will recur as a rich Upper West Side mother who hires Kimmy as a nanny.
Krakowski received a Tony Award for her performance in Nine and was Tony-nominated for Grand Hotel. Her other Broadway credits include Face Value, Starlight Express, Company, Tartuffe and Once Upon a Mattress.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
