Tony winner LaChanze will celebrate the music recorded by Grammy-winning icon Diana Ross in her upcoming shows at 54 Below.
Performances of Love Hangover: LaChanze sings Diana Ross are scheduled for April 17-18 and April 22 at 7 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM for all performances.
"One of Broadway’s most celebrated, powerhouse voices takes to the stage at 54 Below in salute of a woman who broke barriers and challenged stereotypes throughout her legendary career," according to press notes. "'Love Hangover,' 'Do You Know Where You’re Goin’ To?,' 'Endless Love' and 'Good Morning, Heartache' are just a few of the tunes forever linked with this formidable artist (who won a Tony for 1977’s An Evening with Diana Ross). And who better to celebrate this music than another formidable artist?"
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
