Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick will guest star in an upcoming episode of the television sitcom "Modern Family," ABC announced Sept. 21.
Broderick, who currently stars in Broadway's Nice Work If You Can Get It, will play a neurotic new friend of Phil's (Ty Burrell) on the series' fourth season.
"Modern Family" also features Ariel Winter, Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen, Sofia Vergara, Sarah Hyland, Ed O'Neill, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Broderick won Tony Awards for his performances in Brighton Beach Memoirs and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and was nominated for his performance in The Producers. He has also been seen on Broadway in The Philanthropist, The Odd Couple, Taller Than a Dwarf and Night Must Fall, among others.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
