Manhattan Concert Productions will present a one-night-only concert staging of the Tony Award-winning Lynn Ahrens-Stephen Flaherty-Terrence McNally musical Ragtime in February 2013.
Manhattan Concert Productions, which invites qualified orchestras, choirs and various musical ensembles from across the country to perform in renowned venues throughout the U.S. and abroad, will stage Ragtime as part of its inaugural Broadway Concert Series at Lincoln Center Feb. 18, 2013.
Ragtime will bring together talented choirs from across the country, who will perform with professional leading actors and orchestra for the performance.
Additional details and venue will be announced shortly.
The epic musical, based on the E.L. Doctorow novel, interweaves the stories of three distinct families with historical figures to offer a snapshot of America at the turn of the century.
Ragtime has a book by McNally, music by Flaherty and lyrics by Ahrens. The musical opened on Broadway at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Jan. 18, 1998, earning Tony Awards for Best Score, Best Book, Best Orchestrations and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Audra McDonald. A 2009 revival played the Neil Simon Theatre.
Deaf West’s production of SPRING AWAKENING floored the critics when it premiered in California, prompting the Los Angeles Times to write, "It's hard to enumerate all the ways in which Deaf West's SPRING AWAKENING is so very, very good." Now this unapologetically brilliant new production is coming to New York.
