20 Aug 2014
The Toronto International Film Festival, which will showcase 393 features and shorts from 70 countries, has announced its complete lineup.
The festival will present 143 world premieres when it begins Sept. 4. It will continue through Sept. 14.
Among the lineup is the North American premiere of James Franco's "The Sound and the Fury," adapted from James Faulkner's novel. Franco was last seen on Broadway in Of Mice and Men and recently directed the Off-Broadway production of The Long Shrift.
The festival will also feature post-screening Q&A sessions with Jon Stewart ("Rosewater"), Tony winner Denzel Washington and Antonie Fuqua ("The Equalizer"), Tony winner Julie Taymor ("A Midsummer Night’s Dream") and Reese Witherspoon ("Wild" and "The Good Lie").
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
