Tyler Maynard, Felicia Curry, Gabrielle Ruiz and Andrew Keltz Set for Concert of We Three Lizas at Joe's Pub
09 Jul 2013
Chicago’s About Face Theatre in association with John Sanders will present a concert version of We Three Lizas, the hit holiday musical that wowed Chicago audiences this past winter, July 15 at Joe's Pub.
Created by Scott Bradley (book/lyrics) and Alan Schmuckler (music/additional lyrics) and staged by director/choreographer Devanand Janki, the upcoming concert will feature an expanded score and brand-new book.
We Three Lizas is described as a "magical musical fairy tale set in the queerest of lands in which an embittered designer's mid-life crisis leads to divine intervention by Liza Minnelli. And Liza Minnelli. And Liza Minnelli."
Garnering sold-out houses and critical acclaim, About Face Theatre’s world premiere of We Three Lizas debuted in December 2012 at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Garage.
Joe’s Pub is located at 425 Lafayette St. Tickets, priced at $20, are available at www.joespub.com and (212) 967-7555.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
