15 May 2014
Danielle Hope, who won BBC1's "Over The Rainbow" contest and starred as Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Wizard of Oz, stars opposite West End actor Jon Robyns in the Jason Robert Brown musical The Last Five Years in the U.K.
The production, which chronicles a doomed, five-year relationship through a series of solo songs, plays the Greenwich Theatre in London May 15-17 and The Warren Theatre in Brighton May 21-22 and May 24.
Directed by Katie Pesskin with musical direction by Michael Riley, The Last Five Years is produced by Katie Pesskin for As Told By and Susan Winter for Greenwich Theatre.
Hope (Les Misérables) plays struggling actress Cathy Hyatt, who falls in love with on-the-rise Jewish novelist Jamie Wellerstein, played by Robyns (Spamalot, Les Misérables, Avenue Q).
Other members of the creative team include set designer Samuel Wyer and lighting designer Nathan Long.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
