The Savoy, which is situated in the Strand adjoining the hotel of the same name, first opened in 1881, and has been jointly owned by ATG and The Tulbart Group since 2005. The Playhouse Theatre, which is located on Northumberland Avenue near Trafalgar Square, first opened in 1882 and has been jointly owned by ATG and the Tulchin family since 2003.
In a press statement, Rosemary Squire, ATG’s Joint CEO, commented, "We are delighted to acquire full ownership of The Savoy and The Playhouse in the West End. These beautiful theatres are steeped in history and have already played a huge role in the success of our London operation. We look forward to many more wonderful years running them as proud theatre owners. It has been a particular pleasure working with the Tulchin family and Bob Bartner over the last decade and we hope to continue a close working relationship with them on many future productions."
Bob Bartner for the Barnter Group and Norman Tulchin added, "Norman and I have enjoyed our time as owners of the Savoy in partnership with ATG and wish them well in the future. We intend to continue to partner with ATG and pursue other theatre opportunities in the future in London."
The Savoy is currently home to Let it Be, which will be followed in March by ATG's British premiere of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The Playhouse Theatre is currently home to ATG's production of Monty Python’s Spamalot.
