The Hippodrome Theatre will present Harper in her 2010 Tony Award-nominated turn as actress Tallulah Bankhead March 5-17, 2013. Subscribers were informed in a recent letter. (In an earlier posting of this story, Playbill incorrectly reported that Looped would replace a booking of Lombardo's High.)
The comedy-drama concerns the encounter between a sound engineer named Danny Miller (an actor yet to be named) and a drunken, late-career Bankhead during a "looping" session in which he has to record a line of dialogue for what would be her final movie, "Die, Die, My Darling."
Harper is the Emmy Award-winning actress most widely known for TV's "Rhoda." She previously appeared in Golda's Balcony at the 2,200-seat Hippodrome, and Lombardo's play Tea at Five starring Kate Mulgrew also played there.
The design team includes Adrian Jones (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes) Michael Gilliam (lighting) and Michael Hooker (sound).
