Vince Pesce, choreographer of Goodspeed Musicals' in-rehearsal production of the mystery musical Something's Afoot, has taken over the direction of the show. Due to a critical illness in her family, Casey Hushion has withdrawn from directing the show at Goodspeed Opera House.
"During the planning process, Ms. Hushion, who conceived this production, worked closely with Mr. Pesce as she consulted with the authors, chose the creative team and cast the show," according to a Goodspeed statement. "Everyone in the Goodspeed family wishes the best to Ms. Hushion and her family while we welcome Mr. Pesce as director."
Pesce choreographed Goodspeed's recent Mame. He also served as associate choreographer of Broadway's Anything Goes, The Pajama Game, Wonderful Town and Little Shop of Horrors.
Something's Afoot has book, music and lyrics by James McDonald, David Vos & Robert Gerlach, and additional music by Ed Linderman.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
