Volleygirls and Mamma Mia!'s Allison Strong Will Release Dual-Language Album
22 Aug 2014
Allison Strong, who was last seen on Broadway in Mamma Mia! and starred in the NYMF production of Volleygirls, will release her debut, dual-language album "March Towards the Sun" Aug. 31.
The follow-up to her EP "Rewind," the 12-track record is described as an eclectic fusion of Latin, country-folk and piano rock. "March Towards the Sun" will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify.
In celebration of its release, Strong will play The Cabaret at Bergen PAC in Englewood, NJ, Aug. 31 at 7 PM. The free evening will feature musical direction by Juan R. Wust and accompaniment by Wust, Gustavo Shartz and Willy Torres.
Strong made her Broadway debut in the 2009 Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Bye Bye Birdie, playing the role of Helen. She has played solo sets at New York City's Rockwood Music Hall, among others.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
