The cast of St. Louis Muny's seventh and final show of its 96th season, the Tony-winning Jerry Herman musical Hello, Dolly!, got "Crazy in Love" to Beyoncé before ending their run.
Directed by Rob Ruggiero with choreography by Ralph Perkins and music direction by James Moore, the production played Aug. 11-18.
Tony Award winner Beth Leavel starred as Dolly Levi with John O’Hurley as Horace Vandergelder, Rob McClure as Cornelius Hackl, Mamie Parris as Irene Molloy, Jay Armstrong Johnson as Barnaby Tucker, Eloise Kropp as Minnie Fay, Daniel Berryman as Ambrose Kemper, Berklea Going as Ermengarde, Rich Pisarkiewicz as Rudolph/Judge and April Strelinger as Ernestina.
Hello, Dolly! features a book by Michael Stewart with music and lyrics by Herman.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
