The London revival of Miss Saigon opened May 21 at the West End's Prince Edward Theatre and stars newcomer Eva Noblezada. Here are highlights from the production.
The revival, which was well received by critics, recouped its £4.5 million investment, and producer Cameron Mackintosh previously revealed plans to bring Miss Saigon to Broadway in 2015 if a suitable theatre is available.
Young American actress Eva Noblezada, who is making her professional debut, stars as Kim, the role originated by Tony winner Lea Salonga, and was discovered during the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards) in New York City last June.
Directed by Laurence Connor with musical staging by Bob Avian and additional choreography by Geoffrey Garratt, the cast also stars Jon Jon Briones as the Engineer, Alistair Brammer as Chris, Tamsin Carroll as Ellen, Hugh Maynard as John and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi.
The ensemble includes Julia Abueva, Natalie Chua, Jon-Scott Clark, Rob Compton, Callum Francis, Ashley Gilmour, Maria Graciano, Simon Hardwick, Jack Harrison-Cooper, Matthew Jeans, Kurt Kansley, Kittiphun Kittipakapom, David Lee, Mitch Leow, Ela Lisondra, Tanya Manalang, Christian Rey Marbella, Kanako Nakano, Thao Therese Nguyen, Saori Oda, Ariel Reonal, Jon Reynolds, Romeo Salazar, Jordan Shaw, Marsha Songcome, Eloisa Amalia Tan, Christian Tanamal, Thao Vilayvong, Amadeus Williams and Gerald Zarcilla.
Miss Saigon, which is produced by Mackintosh, has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. and Alain Boublil, adapted from original French lyrics by Boublil. Additional lyrics are by Michael Mahler.
