Watch Matt Doyle Sing Moving Covers of "Make You Feel My Love" and "Man in the Mirror" (Video)
20 Aug 2014
Matt Doyle, who was last seen on Broadway in The Book of Mormon and recently starred in the title role of Off-Broadway's Jasper in Deadland, performed moving, stripped-down covers of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" and Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" at his recent 54 Below engagement.
Doyle, who shared the new videos with Playbill.com, has also been seen on Broadway in War Horse, Spring Awakening and Bye Bye Birdie. Videography is by Jeff Tidwell.
Doyle co-wrote the EPs "Daylight" and "Constant" with composer Van Dyke, who accompanied him at 54 Below. The two have played sold-out shows in New York City at venues such as Feinstein's, Joe's Pub and (le) Poisson Rouge.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
