"Selfie," the new ABC sitcom that combines themes of the classic musicalMy Fair Lady and present-day social media, has released its pilot online.
The show stars Karen Gillan ("Dr. Who," "The List") as Eliza Dooley, a pharmaceutical sales rep obsessed with social media and beauty. John Cho ("Sleepy Hollow," "American Beauty") co-stars as Henry, whom Eliza enlists to help make over her image.
The cast also includes David Harewood ("Homeland," "The Merchant of Venice"), Allyn Rachel ("New Girl," "Weeds"), Tony nominee Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Ghost The Musical, "The Good Wife"), Matthew Cardarople ("Scrubs," "Chasing Life") and Jennifer Hasty ("Mike & Molly," "Bunheads").
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
