Co-directed by Tony Award winner and Drama League Alumnus Michael Mayer with Johanna McKeon, the evening will feature performances of musical selections drawn from Harris' career in theatre, film and television.
Guest performers will include James Barbour, Becky Ann Baker, Katie Finneran, Kate Jennings Grant, Cady Huffman, Eddie Korbich, Marc Kudisch, Aaron Lazar, Norm Lewis, John Cameron Mitchell, Constantine Maroulis, Donna Murphy, Lisa O'Hare, Kal Penn, Bryce Pinkham and Lauren Worsham, with special guest appearance by Tim Gunn, among others.
"We are so overjoyed to usher in 2014 with Neil Patrick Harris," Drama League executive director Gabriel Shanks said in a statement. "But to have our dear friend Whoopi Goldberg as our host and the amazing assemblage of talent on stage is a wealth of riches. This year's event is going to be legendary."
Goldberg, an Academy, Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award winner, can be seen on the ABC talk show "The View." She was nominated for a Special Theatrical Event Tony in 2005 for her one-woman show Whoopi, and has also been seen on Broadway in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Xanadu. She won an Academy Award for her performance in "Ghost" and was nominated for "The Color Purple."
The black-tie gala supports The Drama League's educational initiatives for promising young artists.
