Zanna, Don't! to Be Revived at London's Landor Theatre
31 Mar 2014
Tim Acito's 2002 Off-Broadway musical Zanna, Don't! is to be revived at London's Landor Theatre, beginning performances June 4 for a run through June 29.
The staging will mark the debut of Entourage Productions Ltd. It will be directed by Drew Baker, with musical direction by Isaac McCullough, musical supervision by Benjamin Holder, and choreography by Holly Hughes.
According to press materials, "it is set at Heartsville High School, where everyone is gay... well, almost everyone! The students write a controversial show called Don't Ask, Don't Tell about straight people in the military, which encourages a young man and woman to acknowledge their true feelings and fall in love. It's down to Zanna, a magical, musical fairy to wave his wand and bring happiness to all."
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
