Bernadette Peters, who can currently be seen in the Broadway revival of Follies, and Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett, who star opposite each other in The Mountaintop, visited the ladies of "The View" Oct. 11 to talk about their current New York projects.
Peters also chatted backstage with Barbara Walters about working on Follies, where she plays Sally Durant Plummer and gets to sing “In Buddy’s Eyes” eight performances a week—Walters’ all-time favorite Sondheim song.
Academy Award nominees Jackson and Bassett, who play Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Camae, respectively, in Katori Hall’s Olivier Award-winning drama, discussed their experience with The Mountaintop, which officially opens on Broadway Oct. 13.

Two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters co-hosted a special fall preview, entitled “Broadway Backstage,” with local New York ABC-7 Michelle Chatsworth. The half-hour special aired Oct. 23 and is now available online.
“Broadway Backstage” gives viewers a sneak peek at what’s opening on the Great White Way this fall, including interviews with stars ranging from James Earl Jones (Driving Miss Daisy) to Patti LuPone (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) to Patrick Stewart (A Life in the Theatre) and more. Additional segments focusing on La Bete and Colin Quinn’s Long Story Short are also included.

Peters (Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun, Into the Woods, Song and Dance) and Stritch (Elaine Stritch at Liberty, Follies in Concert, Company) stepped into the production July 13, taking over from Tony winners Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury as, respectively, lovelorn actress Desiree Armfeldt and her ex-courtesan mother in the Stephen Sondheim-High Wheeler musical classic.

An opportunity to see two-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters in A Little Night Music, meet her backstage and get a special gift from her could be yours – it’s up for auction to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Peters’ work on behalf of homeless and shelter animals.
The gift Peters will offer is a special heart-shaped gold and diamond bracelet (valued at $1,000), which Peters created with Aki Koleina. A photo op with Peters following the performance and dinner for two before the show at Benjamin Steakhouse is all part of the benefit package.
A Little Night Music, which co-stars Elaine Stritch, is currently playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
Tony Award-winning leading ladies Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch, soon to step into the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music, greeted the press for a photo op and interview session June 24.
They replace Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, who concluded their runs June 20. Peters will take on the role of the captivating actress Desirée Armfeldt, with Stritch as her worldly-wise mother Madame Armfeldt, when the show resumes performances July 13.
