Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark played its final performance of director Julie Taymor’s original vision April 17 at 3 PM. The production is currently taking a three-week hiatus so major changes can be made to the musical.
When the production resumes performances on May 12, it will include changes to the book as well as new songs by Bono and The Edge. Opening night is set for June 14, after the longest preview period in Broadway history.
Here, Spider-Man stars Reeve Carney, who plays Peter Parker; Jennifer Damiano, who plays Mary Jane; and T.V. Carpio, who plays Arachne, talk to NY1 about how they feel about taking a break from performances at the Foxwoods Theatre.

The shoot features Reeve Carney, Jennifer Damiano and T.V. Carpio. Spider-Man is currently in previews at the Foxwoods Theatre.

Reeve Carney, Jennifer Damiano and T.V. Carpio recently appeared on CBS’ “The Early Show” to discuss starring in the new Broadway musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark in the face of intense media coverage over the show’s technical difficulties, cast injuries and delays.
Carney, best known as the frontman of the rock band Carney, also appeared in Spider-Man director Julie Taymor’s film of “The Tempest.” Damiano received a Tony Award nomination for Next to Normal. Carpio’s credits include Rent on Broadway and the Taymor film “Across the Universe.”

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark stars Reeve Carney, Jennifer Damiano and T.V. Carpio visited “Late Night with David Letterman” March 1 to perform the show’s anthem, “Rise Above.”
Spider-Man features a score by Bono and the Edge and is directed by Julie Taymor, who co-wrote the book with Glen Berger. The musical spectacle, based on the famed comic-book hero, is currently in previews at the Foxwoods Theatre on Broadway.

Damiano discusses the challenge of connecting both to her character in performance and to an audience afterwards. Esper relates how his own personal experiences have informed how he portrays his character’s choices.
