"American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks, who was seen on Broadway in In the Heights and recently performed at the Capitol for the 4th of July, is set to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" July 12 at Major League Baseball’s 82nd All-Star game, to be held at the Chase Field in Phoenix, according to The Associated Press.
The “Idol” star recently sang the national anthem for the “Capitol Fourth” concert from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol as well as the title song from Beauty and the Beast. In case you missed her performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” you can catch it next week when the game airs live on Fox at 8 PM ET.
During MLB’s All-Star Week, Sparks will also participate in a celebrity softball game with Nick Jonas (West End’s Les Misérables) and Chord Overstreet (”Glee”). All-Star Week will also feature performances from Cee Lo Green, Jason Aldean, Michelle Branch and Bernie Williams.
Jimmy Smits hosted the 30th anniversary presentation of “A Capitol Fourth,” which aired live on PBS from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol July 4.
The program featured performances from Grammy and Emmy Award-winning actor and musician Steve Martin with the Steep Canyon Rangers; multi-platinum recording artist Josh Groban; Broadway and “Glee” star Matthew Morrison; “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks, who performed the title song from Beauty and the Beast while Mark Ballas and Chelsie Hightower (”Dancing with the Stars”) danced to the Disney tune; rock ‘n’ roll legend Little Richard with the cast of Broadway’s Million Dollar Quartet; three-time Tony nominee Kelli O’Hara; and the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of pops conductor Jack Everly.

In the Heights star and "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks will launch a new fragrance next week, according to people.com.
The scent, called Because of You, is described as “fruity floriental” and said to have top notes of clementine, white imperial currant and orange blossom; a heart of nectarine, sharry baby orchid and coral charm peony, and an undertone of sheer musks.
It will debut at $9.50 for a 2.5-oz bottle and will first be sold in Dots stores and on dots.com. It will become available in Target stores in November, increasing its price to $14.95 on Nov. 1.
Sparks told WWD, “I looked at some other celebrity fragrances, and they were like $80. Even now, I look at a fragrance that’s $80, and I can’t bring myself to spend that much. In this economy, especially,” the singer “my fans deserve a high-quality, reasonably priced scent.” Sparks also said she plans to launch skin care and color cosmetics products in the future.
In the Heights star and “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks will host a special behind-the-scenes look at the HD restoration of Disney’s classic animated film “Beauty and the Beast” when the film is re-released to theatres for special sing-along screenings Sept. 29 and Oct. 2.
Sparks will also give viewers a special look at the making of the music video for her new cover of the Oscar-winning title song, which is available on Itunes. The screenings will also feature commentary from producer Don Hahn, interviews with the film’s cast and a look at how the animation was created.
“Beauty and the Beast” was originally released in 1991 and nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award. The film, which was adapted into a Broadway musical in 1994, will be released on DVD Oct. 5.

The song was recorded to mark the upcoming re-release to theatres and on DVD/Blu-ray of the classic animated film.
