Original
SYNOPSIS: Imaginary Friends concerns real-life literary rivals Lillian Hellman and Mary McCarthy, two women who barely knew each other yet became bitter enemies and legal adversaries. As a guest on The Dick Cavett Show in 1980, McCarthy famously said of Hellman, "Every word she writes is a lie, including and and the." Their feud is examined as a "play with music," written by Nora Ephron and featuring songs by Marvin Hamlisch and Craig Carnelia.
