Oscar and Tony Award winner Glenda Jackson returns to Broadway in the title role of William Shakespeare's King Lear. Following 23 years as a member of the British Parliament, Jackson returned to acting in 2016 playing King Lear at The Old Vic, a performance that earned Jackson an Olivier nomination, the Evening Standard Award for Best Actress, and a Critics Circle Award for Best Shakespearean Performance. Now Jackson returns to the role in a new production and staging put together expressly for Broadway, fresh off her 2018 Tony-winning performance in Three Tall Women.
SYNOPSIS: In William Shakespeare's royal-family tragedy, the aging King Lear divides his estate between
his three daughters, ultimately refusing his youngest and favorite her share because she won't
publicly admit her love for him. The decision leads to chaos and treachery within the kingdom and madness for its monarch.
Information is subject to change prior to opening night.
Performances begin March 6 at a Broadway house to be announced.
