Following a hit London run, Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman comes to Broadway in a production directed by Sam Mendes. Butterworth's acclaimed Broadway debut, Jerusalem, received a Tony Award nomination for Best Play. His other plays seen in New York include Mojo and The River. Mendes is an Oscar winner for his direction of American Beauty. His past stage productions inlcude Cabaret and The Blue Room on Broadway.
SYNOPSIS: Rural Derry, 1981. The Carney farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest. A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year they will be interrupted by a visitor.
