Nick Adams (Liver Lips Louie in Guys and Dolls) chooses: Café Luxembourg
For over 25 years Café Luxembourg has survived trends on where and what to eat. By day there’s a golden glow. At night, with lights turned low, it transforms into a smart, stylish Left Bank boîte bustling with a mix of artists and Lincoln Center patrons. The steak tartare, French onion soup and escargot are longtime favorite starters. An entrée that’s become a classic is the New York strip steak frites, done with 28-day dry-aged Angus beef. There’s also hanger steak, pork schnitzel (served with sauerkraut and apple chutney), poached sole and basil pappardelle (rabbit ragout). It’s hard to leave Café Luxembourg without one of their classic desserts, especially the caramelized lemon tart and profiteroles à la mode.
International/domestic wine list of over 100 varieties; ten by the glass; beer by the bottle and on tap, including Belgium Palm.
