Reasonably priced, perfect pre and after theatre prix fixe menu. Home-made pasta our specialty.
The quest: to find a great, satisfying and affordable meal in the Theater District. A friendly and never stuffy place. A repast to satisfy a craving for fresh and chewy pasta, with flavorful, aromatic sauces, a nice veal scallopine or chicken Marsala. The find: Da Rosina. Nestled on Restaurant Row, a few steps down from street level, is the kind of warm and friendly spot that will never let you down.
It's a modest place with white walls, some lined with mirrors, and seating for only 65. And while the seats fill up before theater, you can order the prix fixe dinner ($19.96; $12.95 at lunch) anytime. Choose from an appetizer like the portobello rustico, mushrooms sauteed in garlic, rosemary and white wine, or prosciutto with fresh fruit. For entrees, you will delight in the cannelloni al forno, vegetable-stuffed pasta with ricotta cheese and tomato sauce, or a traditional homemade meat lasagna. There are also many varieties of fish (filet of sole, shrimp sauteed in garlic and wine and served with pasta), chicken (Parmigiano with tomato and mozzarella, Marsala with wine and mushrooms), and meat (several veal dishes, a grilled pork chop, a broiled sirloin).
Dessert may be a decadent black chocolate cake, a froth of chocolate mousse, ricotta cheesecake or espresso-rich tiramisu.
The service is always friendly at Da Rosina. It's a true find.
