Shakespeare & Company -- Rose Footprint Theatre

Venue Placeholder
We are in the midst of Phase Two of our re-creation of the world's only historically accurate Rose Playhouse, surrounded by it's own Elizabethan Village. The original Rose, built in 1587 on the south bank of London's Thames River (Bankside), was one of the first playhouses in England and was where Shakespeare's earliest plays were performed.
Our Rose Footprint theatre, which closely resembles the actual Rose dimensions, has a simple stage, simple bleacher seating, and a large tent for protection from the elements. The pit area, where the "groundlings" once stood, now provides lawn chair seating and open ground for blankets and picnicking. So bring your lunch baskets, or join us just up the hill at Josie's Place for light fair and drinks! Seating is general admission.
