Built in 1905, the Colonial Theatre was located at 1887 Broadway at 62nd Street. Stars including Ethel Barrymore and Maxine Elliott graced this theatre’s stage, appearing in productions of Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, and Cyrano de Bergerac. The Colonial Theatre was named the Harkness at the time of its demolition in 1977.
